Systems Engineer – Autonomous / Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USV)

Location: Hampshire UK

Overview:
Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join its specialist innovation team focused on the development of next-generation Autonomous / Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) platforms.
This role will play a key part in defining and integrating the onboard systems architecture for advanced autonomous marine capability. The successful candidate will contribute to the full system lifecycle — from concept and specification through to integration and validation.

Key Responsibilities - 
  • Develop and manage system architecture and technical specifications for autonomous vessel platforms
  • Lead systems engineering activities across the full development lifecycle
  • Support integration of:
    • Automation and control systems
    • Robotics and AI-enabled functionality
    • Navigation and sensor systems
    • Onboard power and mission systems
    • Vessel-to-shore communications and remote operations capability
  • Work collaboratively with specialist suppliers and technology partners
  • Contribute to verification, validation and system testing activities
  • Support safety, reliability and regulatory considerations for autonomous marine operations
Ideal Profile - 
  • Degree qualified that is suitable and relevant to the role
  • Strong knowledge of systems design, integration and architecture development
  • Experience within USV, autonomous vessels, maritime robotics, or related autonomy programmes
  • Good understanding of automation frameworks, AI integration, or advanced control systems
  • Comfortable operating within an innovative, evolving programme environment
  • Must be able to live and work in the UK - No Sponsorship
