Our client is embarking on an ambitious journey of global expansion and is seeking a Senior Chartering Manager (Handysize) to serve as the face and figurehead of this exciting new chapter. This is more than just a managerial role – it is a strategic leadership opportunity for a seasoned chartering professional ready to represent the brand, shape commercial direction, and drive growth in emerging international markets.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement chartering strategies to optimize vessel employment and maximize profitability for the Handysize fleet on a time charter basis.
  • Secure employment for company-controlled Handysize vessels via time charter, ensuring best commercial terms and risk management.
  • Monitor and analyze freight markets, competitor activities, and cargo trends to provide actionable insights and forecasts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with charterers, brokers, owners, and other stakeholders in the dry bulk shipping market.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and ensure accurate and timely execution of charter party contracts and related documentation.
  • Liaise with operations and technical teams to ensure commercial performance aligns with charter party terms.
  • Assess charter party terms and counterparty risks, proposing mitigation strategies where appropriate.
  • Ensure all chartering activities comply with internal policies, international shipping regulations, and sanctions regimes.
  
Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of the dry bulk market, with particular focus on the Handysize segment.
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on chartering experience.
  • Proven track record of fixing time charter deals with strong commercial acumen.
  • Deep understanding of global trade flows, and vessel operations.
  • Strong network of relationships with charterers, brokers, and shipowners worldwide.
  • Solid knowledge of charter party terms, shipping law, and negotiation best practices.
  • Ability to assess commercial risk and make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, or a related field.
