About the Role:
As a Project Engineer, you will leverage your engineering expertise to plan, direct, execute, and track projects and processes that ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of our container terminal and its container handling equipment. You will manage risk to meet strategic objectives in environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality, and productivity. This role demands a solid grounding in engineering fundamentals and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Lead projects focused on enhancing terminal performance by eliminating defects, improving safety, and increasing efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and IT departments to maximize asset performance and minimize downtime and costs.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Assist in managing the computerized maintenance management system, handle work orders, and ensure a consistent supply of parts and services.
  • Vendor Management: Prepare proposals, manage vendor relationships, and ensure successful project completion.
  • Labor Relations: Maintain a thorough understanding of labor agreements and foster good working relationships with labor forces.
  • Safety Management: Ensure the department maintains a safe working environment and complies with all relevant safety regulations.
Requirements:
  • Educational Background: A university degree in engineering or a related field. Additional studies in project management or business are advantageous.
  • Experience: 2+ years of technical management experience or project engineering,  particularly within a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, and experience with CMMS. Knowledge of SQL, Visual Basic, and other programming languages is a plus.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Preventative and predictive maintenance, and best practice asset management methodologies of container handling or similar heavy mechanical equipment
