Job Description

Role: Mechanical Manager
Location: Freeport, Bahamas
Focus: Dry Dock Mechanical Leadership

The Company

I am partnering exclusively with Grand Bahama Shipyard as they continue a major phase of operational expansion.

The yard has recently put into operation a new floating dock, significantly increasing repair capacity and project flow.  With the imminent arrival of its Lucayan dock in May 2026, the shipyard will operate the world’s largest floating dock capable of servicing and repairing the largest cruise ships in operation and under construction, as well as the global commercial fleet.

With that growth comes the need for strong leadership within the mechanical function to maintain delivery performance across increasingly complex dry dock projects.

The Role

This is a department leadership position responsible for the mechanical scope across large vessel repair periods.

You will lead experienced supervisors and technical teams delivering work on engines, propulsion systems, piping and rotating equipment across time critical dry dock projects.

Responsibilities include
  • Leading mechanical supervisors and technical teams across multiple projects
  • Planning manpower allocation and supporting project scheduling
  • Ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Supporting estimating, planning and cost control activities
  • Working closely with Production and Planning to drive project performance
  • Developing team capability through mentoring and coaching

This role sits at the heart of yard operations where delivery, safety and commercial performance intersect.

About You

You bring leadership experience from a shipyard, offshore or heavy mechanical environment where safety, delivery timelines and cost control are critical.

You are comfortable leading experienced technical teams and operating in fast paced project environments where dry dock schedules leave little room for delay.

Experience across engines, propulsion systems, piping, heavy machinery or rotating equipment will be key, alongside the ability to coordinate across multiple operational teams.

If you are looking for a visible leadership role within a yard that is investing in growth and expanding its operational capability, this is worth a conversation.
