The role will be based within a major UK shipyard, and you will play a key role in the classification and compliance of naval newbuild projects, ensuring machinery installations meet class and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading and conducting surveys of marine machinery systems during new construction
- Witnessing testing, commissioning, and installation activities
- Verifying compliance with classification rules and naval standards
- Acting as a technical point of contact for shipyard and project stakeholders
- Producing detailed reports and certification documentation
- Supporting and mentoring more junior surveyors where required
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a classification society
- Strong experience in ship new construction projects
- In-depth knowledge of marine machinery systems
- Experience working on naval or defence-related projects (highly desirable)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and reporting skills
