Vessel Manager (Technical Superintendent - MPP Fleet)

Overview We are partnering with a newly established shipping company entering a significant growth phase. They are seeking an experienced Vessel Manager / Technical Superintendent to join their ship operations team and oversee the technical performance of a modern fleet of multipurpose (MPP) vessels, with additional vessels coming into service throughout the year.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape a new organisation from its early stages and play a key role as the fleet continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities Technical Management
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day technical condition and operational readiness of assigned MPP vessels.
  • Monitor, maintain and coordinate repair and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular vessel inspections and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support (pre‑)PSC inspections, internal audits and external audits.
  • Ensure statutory, class and internal documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date reporting and vessel‑related databases.
Crane & Cargo Handling Expertise
  • Provide guidance on crane operations and troubleshooting to vessel crews and internal teams.
  • Support crane‑related commissioning, defect handling and warranty processes.
Project & Newbuild Handover
  • Assist with technical delivery and entry‑into‑service of new vessels.
  • Plan and execute shipyard periods, dry dockings and technical projects.
Budget & Commercial Oversight
  • Monitor vessel operating budgets and highlight deviations where needed.
  • Prepare planned maintenance budgets, repair scopes and investment proposals.
  • Manage warranty claims and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers.
Stakeholder & Crew Coordination
  • Maintain strong communication with Masters, Chief Engineers and onboard teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including QHSE, Crewing, Procurement and Operations.
  • Support a strong safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance across the fleet.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Solid understanding of multipurpose vessels and cargo handling operations.
  • Proven experience with maritime crane systems and guarantee/claim management.
  • STCW Chief Engineer license with at least two assignments sailing in rank.
  • Previous shore‑based experience as a Technical Superintendent or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL and Flag State requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and decision‑making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and travel as required.
  • Hands‑on, proactive mindset with the ability to support a growing team environment.
