Faststream Recruitment is partnering with a well-established maritime organisation to recruit a Technical Superintendent / Senior Technical Superintendent to support the management of a mixed fleet operating across Papua New Guinea.
This is a highly hands-on role overseeing the technical management of general cargo vessels, tugs and barges, supporting safe and reliable operations in a challenging and dynamic environment.
The role is based in Lae, Papua New Guinea, and the company will provide accommodation and a company vehicle as part of the package.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the technical management and maintenance of assigned vessels including general cargo vessels, tugs and barges
- Ensure vessels operate safely and efficiently in line with class, flag and regulatory requirements
- Manage planned maintenance systems, dry dockings and repairs
- Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting for vessels operating in remote locations
- Monitor technical budgets, procurement and spare parts management
- Work closely with operations, crews and senior management to ensure optimal fleet performance
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (C/E) is essential
- Previous shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent or Senior Superintendent
- Experience managing tugs, barges, general cargo or workboat fleets
- Comfortable working in a hands-on operational environment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to be based in Papua New Guinea full time. No FIFO option.
