We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee the technical operations of passenger and cruise vessels. This leadership role ensures vessels are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency, while supporting both on-shore and off-shore teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and ensure vessels meet company maintenance and safety standards
- Supervise daily technical operations and provide regular updates on performance and incidents
- Prepare specifications, evaluate tenders, and manage repair/refit projects including dry-docking
- Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of spare parts
- Drive technical mobilization activities, major repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with IMO, Flag State, and Port State regulations
- Manage vessel budgets, monitor variances, and support operating budget planning
- Promote and implement company health, safety, environment, and quality policies
- Lead and mentor offshore teams, setting clear goals and supporting professional development
- Act as first point of contact for technical emergencies, ensuring swift and qualified response
- Proven experience with passenger ships (sailing or superintendent background)
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering, Navigation, or equivalent shipping qualification
- Valid MEO Class 1 Certificate of Competency or equivalent under STCW Code
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as Chief Engineer/Second Engineer or Master/Chief Officer
- Strong command of English (spoken and written)
- Knowledge of Classification Society procedures and regulations
- Prior people management experience
- Track record in dry dockings, ship repair, and mobilizations
- Commercial acumen with ability to manage vessel financials
- IT literacy and business administration qualification
