I am looking for an experienced Ship Manager to join my clients Marine Technical Operations team, taking responsibility for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a group of assigned cruise vessels. This is a senior technical role that works closely with both shoreside departments and onboard leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day technical operations of assigned vessels, ensuring safe and compliant performance.
- Monitor and manage maintenance plans, ship repairs, and replacement equipment procurement.
- Lead dry-dock preparation and execution, managing related projects within budget.
- Own and manage vessel OPEX budgets, with particular focus on R&M, consumables, and hotel technical spend.
- Conduct regular vessel performance reviews and calls, identifying areas for improvement and setting joint action plans.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise closely with onboard senior marine teams to maintain strong communication between ship and shore.
- Handle guarantee claims and warranty issues with shipyards.
- Support fleet-wide operational projects as required.
- Degree-qualified Naval Architect or Marine/Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent professional background).
- 5–10 years’ experience in the cruise or wider maritime industry – classification society, shipowner, or operator.
- Experience sailing as Chief Engineer within the cruise sector is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of vessel OPEX management and dry-dock planning.
- Clear communicator with the ability to engage across departments and with senior stakeholders.
