A senior level Naval Architect responsible for leading the engineering, integration, and delivery of wind-assist or similar retrofit technologies into commercial vessels. The role involves supporting shipyard installation projects, managing classification interactions, and occasionally acting as Project Manager to oversee installation activities from design through to execution.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead naval architecture activities for vessel integration, structural assessments, stability evaluations, and modification design.
- Provide technical support during drydock, refit, and shipyard installation phases.
- Oversee engineering deliverables, installation sequencing, and technical compliance.
- Act as Project Manager for assigned installation projects, managing schedules, risks, and stakeholders.
- Liaise with classification societies for plan approval and technical submissions.
- Support inspections, surveys, and on-site technical reviews at shipyards.
- Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer across the team.
- Degree-qualified Naval Architect with senior-level experience in marine or offshore engineering.
- Strong background in structural design, FEA, stability, vessel modifications, or systems integration.
- Direct experience working in drydock, shipyard environments, or refit projects.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with classification societies (e.g., plan approval, compliance reviews).
- Comfortable managing multi-disciplinary engineering work packages and acting as Project Manager when required.
- Strong communicator with the ability to work with shipyards, suppliers, and vessel owners.
- Advantageous: experience with retrofit projects, wind-assist technologies, or previous work with Class Societies.
- Based in Europe or the UK (Preference would be UK RTW)
