Our client a growing consultancy are actively hiring r an experienced marine/offshore engineer who wants real authority, real accountability, and involvement in complex, high-risk engineering where good judgement matters.

This is a hands-on position combining deep technical capability with leadership, engineering assurance, and operational support across the full project lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
  • Act as technical authority on projects, owning key engineering decisions
  • Set and enforce engineering standards, methods, and best practice
  • Review and approve:
    • Structural design and FEA
    • Motions and marine analysis
    • Lift plans, method statements, and execution procedures
  • Identify and manage technical and operational risk
  • Challenge unsafe assumptions — and stop work where required
  • Support tenders, planning, and live onshore/offshore operations
  • Provide fast, practical problem-solving during critical activities
  • Mentor engineers and raise overall engineering quality
  • Interface directly with clients, vessels, and third-party reviewers
Technical Strength
  • ANSYS (or equivalent) — structural and lifting analysis
  • OrcaFlex — static and dynamic marine analysis
  • Strong naval architecture fundamentals:
    • Stability (intact and damaged)
    • Motions, seakeeping, operability
    • Tow, transport, lifting, and offshore execution
  • Experience delivering:
    • Transport and sea fastening
    • Load-out and heavy lifting
    • Marine operations planning and execution
  • Confident defending engineering decisions with clients and marine warranty surveyors
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Naval Architecture (or closely related)
  • 6+ years’ relevant marine/offshore engineering experience
  • Proven hands-on delivery using ANSYS and OrcaFlex
  • Experience supporting live, time-critical offshore or onshore operations
  • Strong grasp of engineering risk management and execution planning
  • Ability to independently produce, check, and approve engineering deliverables
  • Natural technical leader and mentor
  • Full UK driving licence
Nice to Have
  • Chartered Engineer (or working toward it)
  • Heavy lift, transport, towing, or cable installation experience
  • Experience acting as engineering signatory or technical authority
  • Exposure to marine warranty surveys or technical audits
  • International project experience
