This is a rare opportunity to lead the establishment and operation of a newly developed Maritime Training Centre, designed to support long-term workforce capability, safety, and sustainability across seafaring and maritime operations.
The role carries full accountability for people leadership, regulatory compliance, and commercial performance, and will suit a senior maritime professional with strong training, accreditation, and operational leadership experience.
The Role Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will have end-to-end responsibility for building and operating a high-quality, compliant, and commercially viable Maritime Training Centre.
This is a hands-on leadership role covering centre setup, accreditation, instructor management, regulatory engagement, and P&L ownership.
Key Responsibilities
Centre Establishment & Strategy
- Lead the setup of the Maritime Training Centre, including site selection, fit-out, and commissioning of classrooms, workshops, and simulator facilities
- Develop and execute the Centre’s business plan, including demand forecasting, course portfolio, pricing, utilisation, and growth strategy
- Define organisational structure, role profiles, KPIs, and succession plans
- Secure and maintain approvals with relevant maritime authorities
- Manage STCW course accreditation and instructor approvals
- Lead external audits and inspections, ensuring full regulatory compliance
- Lead, mentor, and performance-manage instructors and administrative staff
- Oversee training schedules, simulator utilisation, and resource allocation
- Maintain strict HSE standards across all training activities
- Own the Centre’s P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Develop course pricing and commercial proposals
- Drive revenue through increased utilisation, third-party training, and partnerships
- Build and manage partnerships with regulators, maritime operators, and specialist training providers
- Represent the Training Centre at industry forums and external engagements
- Support contract development and commercial agreements
- Implement course evaluation and instructor performance systems
- Maintain quality management systems aligned with ISO standards
- Benchmark performance against leading regional maritime training institutions
You are a senior maritime professional with strong leadership experience in training, compliance, and operational environments.
Key Requirements:
- STCW II/2 Master (FG) or STCW III/2 Chief Engineer (FG) Certificate of Competency
- Minimum 10 years’ combined sea-going and shore-based experience
- Proven leadership experience within a maritime training centre, technical, or regulatory environment
- Strong working knowledge of STCW, ISM Code, and quality management systems
- Commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and driving utilisation
