Faststream is partnering with a well-established maritime and logistics group with a long-standing presence across Papua New Guinea. Supporting critical port, coastal and offshore activities, the business is now seeking a Marine Superintendent to manage the operational, safety and compliance performance of its fleet.
The Role
Reporting into senior operations leadership, you will be responsible for the day-to-day marine operations of a mixed fleet operating across PNG.
Key responsibilities include:
- Marine and operational oversight of tugs, multi-purpose vessels (MPVs) and harbour/support craft
- Ensuring compliance with ISM, ISPS, flag state and port state requirements
- Navigational safety, passage planning standards and incident management
- Crew competence, manning levels and operational readiness
- Liaison with Masters, port authorities, regulators and third-party stakeholders
- Managing audits, inspections and investigations
- Supporting operations in remote and operationally challenging locations
- Driving a strong safety culture and continuous operational improvement
Candidate You will bring:
- Master Mariner (Unlimited) CoC – REQUIRED
- Shore-based experience – REQUIRED (Marine Superintendent / Fleet Ops / Operations role)
- Strong hands-on experience with tugs, MPVs, workboats or marine support vessels
- Excellent knowledge of harbour towage, coastal and offshore operations
- Confident decision-maker with strong incident and risk management capability
- Experience working in remote or developing regions (PNG, Pacific Islands, Africa, ME, etc.)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- High-impact marine leadership role with real fleet responsibility
