This is an exciting opportunity to join Lloyd’s Register’s Maritime Performance Services (LR MPS) group. MPS work with their clients to provide advisory services on a range of complex issues, with the ultimate aim of improving the sustainability and performance of their clients fleet.

A key part of the LR MPS group is the advanced computational modelling expertise that they use to provide assurances to our clients on performance, environmental compliance, and root causes of failure. Due to the unprecedented demand for these services driven largely by the challenge of reduction and ultimately elimination of greenhouse gas emissions from shipping, they are looking to recruit a senior marine engineering consultant with exceptional skills in computational fluid dynamics and ship science.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Numerical modelling & data analysis 
  • Production of high quality technical reports 
  • Presentation of findings to clients 
  • Project management 
  • Support other internal teams as required
  • Mentoring of wider team 
  • Maintaining key client contact and delivering on business development networking targets 

To be successful in the role, you will need:
  • A degree or equivalent within the field of marine / aerospace / mechanical engineering or physical science. Post graduate degree in engineering (MSc, MEng, or PhD) is not required but would be an asset.
  • Proven ability in applying CFD and data analysis software tools to deliver technical solutions to clients.
  • Proven ability in the technical domains of hydrodynamics, naval architecture, and fluid structure interaction
  • Proficient with data analysis and programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, or C)
  • Working knowledge of Linux and CAD packages (e.g. Rhino 3D).
  • Ability to apply theoretical, analytical, and numerical skills for modelling, data interpretation, and problem classification, in order to solve complex challenges.
  • Proven ability in the Project Management process, gained through experience, involving complex projects and stakeholder relationships.
