This is a newly created role in a global shipping organization. This role will assist the organization to further develop the purchasing function.

This role will be suitable for a purchasing professional who has relevant managerial experience within the maritime industry and comes with a good network of vendors and suppliers relevant to the industry. Commercially sound with strong negotiation skills. Proven track records in monitoring expenditure and cost savings.

You will oversee and be accountable for the day to day purchasing operations. You will be supervising and providing guidance to a team of up to 10 Purchasing Officer. You will work closely with the Technical team to support the purchasing requirements for the fleet of 50 seagoing vessels. Monitor workflow from point of receiving purchase requests to delivery, and to introduce changes to improve efficiency where appropriate. Assessing vendor performance and keeping updated on price trends for products and services in the industry.
