An international shipping and trading group is building out its tanker business and is seeking a Projects Manager to drive growth in the Chinese shipping market. This role sits at the commercial core of the business in Dubai, working closely with senior management and the trading desk on long-term chartering, market expansion, and strategic opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate and evaluate time charter and COA opportunities, with a strong focus on China.
- Leverage an existing network of shipowners, charterers, and brokers to develop new business.
- Lead commercial negotiations and support fixture execution alongside the spot trading desk.
- Cover shipping requirements for an in-house trading business, providing hire rate guidance and market insight.
- Support Sale & Purchase activity in a commercial and advisory capacity.
- Work closely with senior management on strategy, fleet deployment, and market expansion.
- Attend industry events and conduct regular travel to China to maintain and grow relationships.
- Operate as an individual contributor, with scope to build a team as the platform scales.
Skills & Experience
- Proven commercial experience in tanker chartering, trading, or projects/business development.
- Fluent Mandarin with an established Chinese shipping market network.
- Shipowner or operator background strongly preferred; brokers considered with relevant TC exposure.
- Strong understanding of tanker markets, freight dynamics, and chartering structures.
- Experience negotiating TCs and/or COAs.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
- IMOS voyage management experience is advantageous.
- Willingness to be based in Dubai and travel regularly to China.
