Faststream Recruitment are working with an innovative marine technology business seeking an Electrical/Electronic Designer to join their growing engineering team based in Bristol.

The Role As an Electrical Engineer, you will be involved across the full lifecycle of complex electrical and automation systems, from initial design through to commissioning, testing and in-service support. Working closely with internal teams and customers, you’ll help deliver bespoke technical solutions used in demanding marine environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing electrical and automation systems from the ground up
- PLC programming and automation system development
- Producing design specifications, schematics and technical documentation
- Supporting customer requirements and contributing to solution design
- Building, testing and fault-finding electrical systems
- Analysing test data and refining designs
- Supporting installation, commissioning and customer demonstrations
- Contributing to continuous improvement of products and future designs
You’ll come from an electrical, electronic, automation or systems engineering background, with hands-on experience designing and delivering real-world systems.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical system design
- PLC or automation programming experience (or similar embedded systems)
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet, CANbus, serial communications or GSM
- Hands-on experience with electrical builds (panels, racks, harnesses, etc.)
- Confident fault-finding and commissioning electrical systems
- Ability to produce clear installation and user documentation
- Comfortable supporting customers and technical demonstrations
- Have Full UK Right to Work
- Experience within the marine or offshore environment
- Exposure to IoT, remote monitoring or digital systems
- Familiarity with software tools such as Git or Jira
- Degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline
