Location: Papua New Guinea
This is an operational role with direct responsibility for people, assets, safety performance and stakeholder management in a challenging and dynamic operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall operational management of tug and harbour craft fleet, including harbour, coastal and international operations
- Ensure safe execution of towage, pilotage support, emergency response and salvage-related operations where required
- Lead Masters, crews and shore teams to deliver high standards of HSSEQ, operational readiness and reliability
- Develop and implement operational procedures, risk assessments and emergency response plans
- Interface closely with port authorities, terminals, clients, regulators and external stakeholders
- Manage incidents, near-misses and investigations, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions
- Support fleet planning, crew deployment, training and competency management
- Contribute to budgeting, cost control and continuous operational improvement initiatives
- Master Mariner (Unlimited) – mandatory
- Strong experience across harbour towage, international operations and salvage
- Proven operational leadership within tug or harbour craft environments
- Solid understanding of ISM Code, maritime regulations and port operations
- Calm, decisive leader with strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience working in remote or developing operating environments preferred
- Senior, hands-on operational role
