I am working with a well-established ship management company headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, managing a substantial and diverse fleet of over 170 vessels including tankers, LPG carriers, bulkers, containers and multipurpose vessels. The company offers comprehensive technical, crewing, insurance, legal and commercial management services on a global scale.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will join the Insurance & Legal team to manage marine insurance claims, primarily Hull & Machinery (H&M) and Protection & Indemnity (P&I). The role involves close coordination with insurers, legal advisors, and internal departments to ensure accurate and timely claims handling and resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of H&M and P&I claims, including documentation, negotiation, settlement and follow-up.
  • Interpret and review marine insurance policies to identify coverage scope, obligations and exclusions.
  • Liaise with surveyors, P&I correspondents, technical teams and legal experts to support claims handling.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate claim files, correspondence and reporting for internal use and insurers.
  • Deliver regular updates and insights to internal stakeholders on claim status, cost exposure and trends.
  • Monitor developments in maritime law, insurance practices and international compliance standards.
  • Support ongoing improvements in claims processes, procedures and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Provide legal or insurance-related assistance as required across operations.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience: At least 3 years in P&I or H&M claims, ideally within a shipowner, ship management company, or marine insurer.
  • Education: Degree in Law, Maritime Studies, Insurance or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification in Maritime Law is a strong asset.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and reporting skills.
  • Clear and confident communicator with strong negotiation and stakeholder management ability.
  • Proactive, reliable and able to manage multiple priorities in a demanding and fast-paced international setting.
