This is a key role within the organisation’s safety and quality function, offering the opportunity to influence standards both ashore and across the fleet. The successful candidate will play a central role in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and environmental performance.
The Role
Reporting into senior management, you will be responsible for the effective implementation and ongoing management of the company’s Safety Management System, ensuring alignment with ISM, TMSA / DryBMS, and relevant ISO standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of ISM requirements onboard and ashore
- Monitoring compliance with ISM, TMSA / DryBMS, ISO standards and internal procedures
- Planning and carrying out internal audits
- Leading or supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Promoting a strong safety culture across the organisation
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required
About You
To be considered, you are likely to have:
- A background as a Deck Officer or a University Degree in Marine Engineering
- Experience in an HSSEQ, QHSE, or similar shore-based role (advantageous but not essential)
- Practical knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISM and ISPS internal auditing
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- A professional, proactive, and detail-focused approach
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Flexibility to travel internationally at short notice
