Job Description

We are partnering with an esteemed global maritime advisory organization on a confidential appointment for a Head of Commercial (Greater China) based in Shanghai. 

You will lead and inspire the commercial organization to deliver sustainable revenue growth and strengthen market positioning, execute the China commercial strategy, drive customer acquisition and retention, and ensure profitable growth across both existing and new client segments in the shipyards and shipowners space.

Commercial Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop, implement and own the China commercial strategy to deliver revenue targets, market expansion, and long-term profitability.
  • Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities across shipyards, vessel operators, offshore energy and maritime technology sectors.
  • Lead sales forecasting, pipeline management, budgeting, and commercial planning activities.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing commercial team, cultivating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Instill organizational values, promote ethical business practices, and ensure alignment with corporate goals and growth plans
  • Build capability through targeted coaching, talent development and succession planning
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Champion a strong customer-centric mindset, ensuring delivery of exceptional service and long-term client retention
  • Act as a senior representative with key clients, shipyard executives, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Monitor client feedback, identify areas for improvement, and drive superior customer experience across all touch points 
Business Growth & Market Development
  • Expand market presence by nurturing strategic relationships and strengthening local industry partnerships
  • Utilize deep market intelligence to identify business opportunities, evolving customer needs and competitive positioning
  • Represent the organization at industry events, forums, and executive-level engagements to enhance brand visibility
Your background:
  • Local Chinese national with strong knowledge of the domestic maritime market
  • Proven experience in the maritime sector, ideally with strong familiarity with shipyards, technical services, inspections, engineering, or related maritime solutions
  • Established network with shipyard executives, shipowners, OEMs, or offshore stakeholders
  • Strong background in commercial leadership, business planning, and revenue management
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, developing, and coaching sales or commercial teams to achieve targets and drive high performance
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English; excellent communicator in both written and verbal formats
  • High level of professional integrity, trustworthiness, and ethical business conduct
