Job Description

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented General Manager to take charge of a flagship yacht charter base located in the British Virgin Islands. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of 5 direct reports and approximately 300 employees, overseeing a fleet of around 300 boats, and ensuring exceptional customer experiences while driving profitability.

Your primary focus will be on delivering an outstanding level of customer satisfaction, setting performance standards across the base, and ensuring your team meets these standards every day. This involves living and breathing the company's Yachts CREW values, which are centered on teamwork, respect, excellence, and world-class service.

In addition to customer satisfaction, you will also be accountable for driving the profitability of the base and ensuring that it meets or exceeds its EBITDA targets. To achieve this, you will need to create and implement commercial business plans to drive increased profitability of The Moorings Yacht Club and The Moorings Market, two key revenue streams of the business.

Another critical aspect of your role will be ensuring the overall health and safety of the base's employees and customers. This includes partnering with the Head of Marine Safety to complete annual base audits and creating and delivering action plans to mitigate risk. You will also be responsible for managing any health and safety incidents that may occur.

To succeed in this role, you must ensure that the annual SMART review process and compliance training requirements are completed by deadline each year. You will work closely with the Senior People Partner - Caribbean and Tahiti to create robust people plans that drive performance, create career pathways for local talent, train and develop teams, nurture high potentials, and foster a performance culture.

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and development of 5 direct reports across different departments, including Crew Yachts, Customer Service, Technical Maintenance, and The Yacht Club. You will ensure that SMART objectives are set and PDPs are in place for all your team members, supporting them in their professional development.

In addition to leading your team, you will also be responsible for ensuring fleet compliance in line with local legislation, working with the Compliance and Planning Manager to complete necessary compliance processes. You will also oversee the local Hurricane plan and create strong working relationships with external stakeholders.

Finally, you will support the VP Operations with global projects as required and deputize for the VP Operations as necessary.

The ideal candidate for this role should have previous experience managing a large yacht base with a minimum fleet size of one hundred boats or more, experience leading a large operational team of one hundred employees or more, and a proven record of personally driving commercial success.

Additionally, you should possess an RYA Yacht Master license or equivalent and have personal or professional experience in the Caribbean. A technical engineering degree or equivalent and previous hospitality experience would be an added advantage.

In summary, if you are an exceptional leader with a passion for delivering world-class customer experiences and driving profitability, we would love to hear from you.
