Are you a Chief Engineer (C/E) with strong shore-based experience managing tugs, MPVs and marine support vessels in demanding operating environments?

Faststream is partnering with a maritime group with long-standing operations across Papua New Guinea. Supporting critical port, coastal and offshore activities, the business is now looking to appoint a Fleet Technical Manager to take technical ownership of its fleet.

The Role

Reporting into senior operations leadership, you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical management and reliability of a mixed fleet operating across PNG.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Technical management of tugs, multi-purpose vessels (MPVs) and harbour/support craft
  • Planned maintenance systems (PMS), dry-dockings, repairs and asset integrity
  • Technical budgeting, cost control and procurement
  • Liaison with class societies, flag state authorities, shipyards and vendors
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory and company standards
  • Providing technical support to operations teams in remote locations
  • Managing and mentoring technical staff, superintendents and contractors
The Ideal Candidate

You will bring:
  • Chief Engineer (C/E) CoC – REQUIRED
  • Proven shore-based technical management experience (Fleet / Technical Superintendent / Technical Manager)
  • Strong background with tugs, MPVs, workboats or marine support vessels
  • Experience working in remote, developing or operationally challenging environments (PNG, Pacific, Africa, ME, etc.)
  • Practical, hands-on mindset with strong commercial and stakeholder management skills
