Fleet Manager – Tanker Fleet (Singapore Based)

Overview

An established international ship management platform is seeking a technically strong Fleet Manager to oversee a portfolio of tanker vessels. This is a managerial position responsible for full technical governance, operational performance, safety compliance and cost control across the assigned fleet.

The successful candidate will bring deep tanker experience, strong stakeholder management capability and proven leadership within high-performance maritime environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full technical and operational oversight of an assigned tanker fleet (MR / Aframax / VLCC / Chemical)
  • Ensure fleet reliability, safety performance and regulatory compliance in accordance with Class, Flag, ISM and international maritime standards
  • Lead and mentor a team of Technical Superintendents and shore-based support staff
  • Drive dry docking strategy, major repairs, retrofits and CAPEX planning
  • Control OPEX budgets and deliver cost optimisation without compromising safety or reliability
  • Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Liaise closely with shipowners, charterers, Class societies, Flag administrations and key external stakeholders
  • Manage technical risk, PSC performance and audit readiness
  • Support performance reporting, fleet KPIs and strategic planning initiatives
  • Ensure effective communication between shipboard teams and shore management
Requirements
  • Class 1 (Motor) Certificate of Competency – Mandatory
  • Former Chief Engineer with solid sailing tenure on tanker vessels
  • Must have shore-based experience in technical superintendent / fleet management roles
  • Strong exposure to tanker fleets (product, chemical, crude or gas preferred)
  • Proven track record managing dry dockings, budget control and fleet performance optimisation
  • Experience handling Class surveys, PSC inspections and marine incidents
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost-control mindset
  • Demonstrated leadership capability managing multi-cultural teams
  • Fluent Mandarin and English (written and spoken) – Mandatory to manage complex stakeholder environments including shipowners and charterers
  • Singapore-based or eligible to work in Singapore
