Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, Based on experience
Our Client: A dynamic, fast-growing Singapore-based company in the global dry bulk freight, commodities trading, and integrated logistics sector. As part of a close-knit group, the business operates in an entrepreneurial, owner-driven environment with a lean team structure, offering hands-on involvement across all financial functions and direct impact on business growth.
The Role:
We are seeking a proactive and highly capable Finance Manager to join this entrepreneurial shipping/logistics organisation. Reporting directly to the leadership team, you will take full ownership of the finance function in a small-firm setting—handling end-to-end responsibilities from daily operations to strategic oversight. This is not a large corporate role; the successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment where initiative and practical problem-solving are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead full-cycle financial reporting, including month-end close, consolidation, management reporting, variance analysis, and accurate/timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Manage statutory compliance, tax filings (corporate, GST, withholding), regulatory submissions, and coordination with external auditors/tax agents.
Oversee treasury and cash flow management: forecasting, liquidity monitoring, banking relationships, working capital optimisation, and minimising DSO/DPO.
Drive budgeting, rolling forecasts, cost control, capex monitoring, and identification of savings/efficiencies.
Implement and strengthen internal controls, risk management, and process improvements (including ERP/system enhancements for automation and reduced manual work).
Handle ad-hoc financial analysis, commercial support for chartering/trading decisions, and support business expansion initiatives.
Ensure zero tolerance for material errors, late submissions, or compliance breaches in a high-stakes international trade environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Proven experience as a Finance Manager (or equivalent) in a smaller company/start-up/entrepreneurial environment (essential—large corporate backgrounds often struggle with the breadth and pace).
Strong technical accounting acumen (full sets of accounts, IFRS/SFRS knowledge, tax compliance in Singapore/international context).
Proactive, hands-on mindset—comfortable rolling up sleeves for day-to-day tasks while driving improvements and owning outcomes.
Experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, commodities, or trading is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with founders/leadership in a collaborative, flat structure.
Degree in Accounting/Finance (CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent preferred).
Proficient in accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar); experience automating processes is a plus.
Why Join?
Opportunity to build and shape the finance function in a growing, ambitious business with global reach.
Direct exposure to leadership and commercial decisions in dry bulk shipping and commodities.
Entrepreneurial culture where your initiative directly drives results and recognition.
Competitive remuneration, performance incentives, and potential for rapid career progression.
