What You Will Be Doing
- Managing a varied caseload of FD&D matters for owners and charterers, ensuring cost-effective and commercially focused outcomes.
- Acting as a trusted point of contact for clients, providing clear advice and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Working closely with colleagues across claims, loss prevention, and underwriting to share insights and improve processes.
- Preparing reports, case summaries, and updates for internal stakeholders.
- Supporting audits, peer reviews, and continuous improvement projects aimed at strengthening claims handling.
- Assisting with business development, client meetings, and networking activities in the UK and overseas.
- Contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Staying up to date with relevant rules, procedures, and best practices within FD&D and the wider shipping sector.
- Participating in specialist working groups and contributing ideas to improve the claims function.
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent overseas qualification) with 2–3 years’ PQE.
- Understanding of FD&D claims and/or experience within the P&I or marine insurance sector.
- Familiarity with shipping terminology and standard ship operations.
- Experience handling shipping disputes or general commercial litigation, whether through court proceedings or arbitration.
- Confident with IT systems and able to adapt quickly to new platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing demands.
- Able to run cases efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and service.
