Electrical Superintendent
Cruise Industry

Are you an experienced electrical professional with cruise ship experience, ready to take your expertise to the next level at sea? We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Superintendent to join a leading cruise company and oversee the electrical and automation systems across their fleet.
This is a Hamburg-based, office-focused role with operational responsibilities on cruise ships. Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to Hamburg and possess an existing right to work in Germany.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical and automation systems onboard assigned cruise ships, including power generation and distribution (HV/LV), automation, navigation, propulsion, and hotel services.
  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Oversee technical projects, upgrades, and retrofits during both in-service operations and dry-dock periods.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Chief Electrical Officers and onboard technicians, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Manage budgets, procurement, and inventory for electrical and automation systems.
  • Conduct inspections, monitor compliance with regulations and classification standards, and report vessel status.
  • Collaborate with onboard teams, contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure effective operations and rapid resolution of incidents.
Your Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the maritime sector, ideally on cruise ships (Chief Electrician or shore-based Service Engineer experience).
  • Shore-based experience in a relevant field is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge of marine electrical and automation systems, safety regulations, and industry standards (IEC, class rules, etc.).
  • Proven experience leading teams in multicultural environments with strong communication and mentoring skills.
  • Proactive, service-oriented mindset with a focus on safety and operational excellence.
  • Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to Hamburg and have the right to work in Germany.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
