Our client is a well-established maritime company with a global footprint and are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage key accounting and finance functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and operational excellence.

This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.
Due to frequent interaction with headquarters and regional stakeholders, Mandarin proficiency is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial and management reports, including variance analysis and key insights
  • Manage fixed assets accounting and intercompany recharges
  • Prepare quarterly GST reconciliations for submission
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reports, schedules, and workings
  • Oversee periodic stock-take and inventory management
  • Prepare monthly closing schedules
  • Lead monthly and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage audit engagements and act as the main point of contact for auditors
  • Liaise with auditors, bankers, tax agents, company secretary, and relevant statutory bodies to ensure compliance
Business Support & Process Improvement
  • Provide financial and analytical insights to support business decisions
  • Review financial reporting processes, accounting policies, and workflows; recommend improvements
  • Strengthen internal controls and drive process efficiencies
  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on cost savings, profitability, and operational improvements
  • Participate in finance system enhancements and implementations aligned with business needs
Requirements:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience (maritime/shipping industry experience is an advantage)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Singapore statutory requirements (GST, audit, compliance)
  • Experience managing month-end close and audit processes
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and English to liaise with Chinese stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
