Business expansion triggers search
The Chairman of a large and diverse Asian Conglomerate planned to expand their business by entering the fast-growing Cruise sector and wished to recruit a Chief Executive Officer with a strong track record in Cruise Lines to lead the new business.
Following a period of researching executive search firms with experience in the Cruise sector, Faststream was approached and asked to provide examples of similar searches completed with Cruise Lines.
Kelsey Purse, Director of Shipping represented Faststream Recruitment and took part in an initial briefing call with the Board. The brief for the Chief Executive Officer was clear, and an established name in the global Cruise market with both commercial and technical experience was required. We immediately knew a niche group of individuals who fit the initial specification due to the network we had established in the international cruise sector.
Specialist Cruise search partner chosen
Whilst other Cruise recruitment specialists, maritime search firms and generalist headhunting businesses were also approached, after four weeks from the initial enquiry, we were chosen due to the speed of our response and initial proposal, as well as the references provided for other search work we had completed successfully.
After our selection, we joined a video conference with the Chairman to delve deeper into the person and role specification. We discussed their employer value proposition and how we would use this to attract, engage and recruit. We shared our recruitment methodology for search work of this nature, the timings of each recruitment stage, as well as the communication plan for the potential candidates and the board members, plus the information that would be shared at each stage.
Global reach in the Cruise sector
We were confident we could quickly establish a long list of suitable candidates and approached our executive network in Cruise confidentially to discuss this exciting new role. After several discussions, we had narrowed down our initial long list to a small shortlist of candidates. We knew we had a list of people who could successfully deliver on the role specifications and we felt confident about the candidates' capabilities.
Video interviews took place with the full shortlist of candidates. The board members decided there was one stand out candidate and flew them across the world to meet in person after only two weeks of seeing the executive profile we had delivered to them.
Creating an Executive package
After an additional interview with the same candidate, our client was keen to make a competitive offer, one that would help to retain the new Chief Executive Officer for the long term. Our assistance was sought and we advised on the salary itself, as well as other options such as bonus, stock options, a joining bonus, accommodation and travel.
The final package was decided on and offered, and the candidate accepted.
Search completed quickly and confidentially
Our client was delighted that they had quickly and efficiently found a new Chief Executive Officer who they were sure would take their international Cruise line to the next level in premium cruising.
