I am working with a management company that is seeking a Yacht Technical Manager to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual with both seagoing and shore-based experience to play a pivotal role in the company’s next stage of development.
The Role:
As Yacht Technical Manager, you will oversee the technical management of a varied fleet of large yachts, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance. You’ll work closely with captains, engineers, and senior management, providing technical expertise, leadership, and proactive solutions to support smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee technical operations, maintenance planning, and compliance across managed yachts
- Liaise with onboard teams to ensure vessels are operating safely and efficiently
- Manage dry docks, refits, and repair projects, including contractor and budget oversight
- Provide leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
- Support the company’s growth by driving innovation, efficiency, and best practice
- Experience working onboard yachts or commercial vessels (essential)
- Previous shore-based experience within the maritime industry (essential)
- Chief Engineer ticket (STCW III/2) or Marine Engineering degree (highly desirable)
- A natural leader who can motivate, mentor, and guide technical teams
- Confident in making decisions under pressure and taking responsibility for outcomes
- Strong communicator, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
