I am currently working with an established Global Yacht Management Company searching for a Yacht Management Director to join their team in their Greece office. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Yacht or Fleet Manager looking to take the next step in their career.

You will oversee all aspects of the Yacht Management Department.  The overall goal is to grow and sustain a recognised and respected fleet of quality yachts and to maintain strong interpersonal relationships with current and prospective client owners, captains and brokers around the world as well as departmental strategising for company growth worldwide.

Candidate minimum requirements.
  • 10 years’ experience in the Yacht Industry – across 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Good commercial knowledge and negotiating ability
  • Excellent decision-making ability
  • People management - ensure that all vessels under each team member are properly handled, compliant and that records are maintained.
  • Oversee New Client Checklist and prepare paperwork for onboarding new client vessels.
  • Maintain contact on a regular basis with all Yacht Management clients.
  • Liaise with clients & representatives on high level issues & concerns.
  • Visit yachts & shipyards on behalf of clients to oversee projects, especially for significant shipyard projects.
  • Visit yachts worldwide to perform on-board internal audits as required by regulations (ISM/ISPS/MLC). Train employees to do so.
  • Oversee logistical arrangements of Yacht Management staff & coordination with vessels, clients, contractors etc.
  • Ensure department compliance with Flag State regulations (ISM/ISPS/MLC).
  • Plan & manage company Flag State audits for compliance (ISM/ISPS/MLC).
  • Create and control Yacht Management operating budget.
  • Create and oversee operating systems for Yacht Management Department including software & technology development.
  • Identify areas for training of staff in department.
  • Meet with brokerage clients and charter clients to advise on ownership issues.
  • Review budgets & financial reports with clients.
  • Provide budget scenarios for brokers as requested.
  • Review department accounting reports and identify opportunities for growth/profitability/reduced costs
  • Perform HR duties within department (interview candidates/hiring/termination/PTO/expense reporting/dispute resolution).
  • Attend & participate in industry events, seminars & conferences
  • Leadership transferrable skills – the ability to oversee, guide and advise a small team
  • Knowledge of class regulations
  • Willingness and ability to look after Owners interests
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
  • Well presented
  • Fluent English language skills (written and spoken) and Computer Literacy
  • Strong attention to detail, report writing
  • Willing and able to travel frequently – up to 1 week per month, as and when required
 Desired:
  • Min 7 years experience sailing as a senior deck officer in the Superyacht sector
  • Min 3 years shoreside experience as a Yacht Manager, Fleet Manager, DPA, Compliance Manager
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Flag State – specific Policies and Guidance affecting Yacht Operations.
  • Up to date knowledge of maritime legislation including marine insurance
  • Strong knowledge of ISM, ISM/ISPS auditor experience and ISM Lead Auditor qualification 
  • Project Management experience in the Superyacht sector, refits, new builds, dry docks
  • CSO and or DPA qualification and experience
