I am urgently recruiting for a Travelling HVAC Superintendent, to be based in Europe with regular travel to offices and vessel visits.

Job Description:
The HVAC Superintendent is responsible for managing the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and refrigeration systems on assigned cruise ships. They ensure the optimal performance of these systems, maintain indoor air quality, and oversee repairs and maintenance. The HVAC Superintendent reports to the Vessel Manager operationally and to the Head of the Technical Department disciplinarily.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the HVAC and refrigerant systems on assigned cruise ships.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans and strategies for these systems.
  • Monitor and assess system performance, identifying areas for improvement
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with onboard teams and external contractors for repairs and installations.
  • Manage HVAC and refrigerant projects, including upgrades and retrofits.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to onboard teams and crew members.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers, service providers, and classificaiton societies.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending upgrades and improvements.
  • Prepare reports on system maintenance, performance, and budget compliance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in HVAC and refrigeration systems in the maritime industry either as Service Engineer in a shore-based Company or Seagoing experience as an Engineer in charge of maintenance of HVAC and Refrigeration Systems on board Cruise Ships is essential
  • Strong knowledge of marine HVAC systems, refrigeration principles, and controls.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, such as SOLAS and class rules.
