The Role
I am partnering with a leading classification society who are seeking a Marine Surveyor to cover ports, shipyards, and equipment manufacturers across Northwest Germany.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys, inspections, and audits of ships, equipment, and components in line with established procedures and industry standards.
 - Manage projects, schedules, and deliverables to meet client expectations.
 - Review and monitor technical reports and documentation.
 - Provide technical advice and solutions to clients and stakeholders.
 - Support continuous improvement and professional development initiatives.
 - Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing.
 - Ensure compliance with internal procedures, legislation, and accreditation schemes.
 
- Comprehensive induction covering systems, processes, and authorisations.
 - Dedicated auditor training pathway, including classroom and online learning, followed by supervised audits before independent certification work.
 - Ongoing professional development to support career progression.
 
- Degree in Marine Engineering (Mechanical Engineering considered with marine experience).
 - Experience as a Marine Surveyor, Owner Superintendent, or Marine Engineer.
 - Hands-on experience inspecting existing ships, equipment, and systems.
 - Seagoing background as a certificated ship's officer is desirable.
 - Familiarity with classification society procedures is advantageous.
 - Fluent in English; German preferred.
 - EU work permit required.
 - Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
