Location: Bremen, Germany
I am partnering with a leading classification society who is looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Surveyor (Naval Architect) to join their Bremen office, covering ports and shipyards in Northwest Germany.
The Role:
As a Senior Surveyor, you will:
- Conduct surveys of new constructions and existing ships, including inspections of materials, equipment, and components.
- Work closely with shipyards and local equipment manufacturers, ensuring compliance with industry standards, procedures, and regulations.
- Verify technical drawings on-site and confirm that construction or modifications meet required specifications.
- Participate in acceptance tests, assessing materials and components as part of quality assurance.
- Take responsibility for project deliverables, budgets, and schedules, with opportunities to mentor and guide less experienced colleagues.
- Undertake training and induction courses to gain necessary authorisations and maintain professional development.
- Degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in shipbuilding, shipyards, or a related marine engineering environment.
- Hands-on experience with cargo ships, yachts, or passenger vessels preferred.
- Proficiency in German is highly desirable, due to client and shipyard locations, but not mandatory.
- Valid driving licence; company car or allowance may be provided depending on experience.
- Cooperative, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a multicultural environment.
- Willingness to travel within a 100 km radius of Bremen and occasionally further afield.
- Exposure to a broad range of vessels and projects, from technical inspections to project management.
- Structured induction and training programmes to support career progression.
