Faststream Recruitment has entered into an exclusive partnership with MSC Cruises to recruit and hire the new build site teams across Europe who will be critical in MSC's extensive cruise ship new build programme. MSC Cruises are now seeking a Site Specialist - Safety & Deck Outfitting in France.

JOB PURPOSE  
The Specialist, Safety & Deck Outfitting provides supervision and acceptance to the hull outfitting, safety equipment, lifesaving and fire fighting appliances and oversees the inspectors’ team, providing support to drawing approval. He/she is the main point reference for all related matters with the Ship’s Construction Manager, the shipyard, suppliers and the technical office.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES  
•Oversees the hull outfitting, safety equipment, lifesaving and fire fighting appliances (including fire insulation) and the inspectors’ team, providing support to drawing approval;
•Supervises all matters of competence described in the technical specification Sections 2 – 3 – 6.7, including the witness of the related SAT/HAT/FAT;
•Coordinates and monitors the daily work of the inspectors who belong to their team and resolves issues as identified by the team during inspections with the support of the Technical Office;
•Is the main point of reference for all related matters with the Ship’s Construction Manager, the shipyard, suppliers and the technical office;
•Ensures that all parts built under his team supervision are inspected, verified and functionally tested to meet the requirements of the above mentioned sections of technical specification, defined design parameters and contractual requirements;
•Ensures that all the equipment, systems and outfitting's are safe to operate, installed according to the manufacturers specification and with reasonable access for future maintenance and repair;
•Acts proactively in enforcing that remarks, defects and other non-conformities identified from past projects, or from Vessels in operation as per info received by Technical Office, or from guarantee claims relevant to equipment, systems, installations and workmanship / quality are being addressed to the ship yard and followed through during the inspection or commissioning process;
•Works with the Ship’s Construction Manager on the preparation of documents for the delivery process of the ships, and in particular on the documents for the protocol of delivery;
•Highlights relevant aspects of the ship’s design that can be improved for future constructions reporting them to Ship’s Construction Manager and Technical Office.
 
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)  
•Fluency in English, knowledge of Italian and/or French is a plus;
•Master Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or significant experience on the field;
•Significant experience running inspections in shipyards for activities of shipbuilding or refurbishment, with some experience in leading a team;
•Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint);
•Ability to review new building specifications and drawings;
•Ability to work in a cross cultural environment and communicate with internal/external stakeholders at all level;
•Problem solving and a ‘can do’ attitude;
•Excellent attention to detail;•Availability to travel as needed and work long hours under pressure, especially close to ship’s delivery.
