The Senior Manager - Australia & New Zealand will be responsible for leading and growing the Consulting Practice in both markets and will be based in Australia. This position carries operational and commercial management accountability, with a focus on service excellence, business development, compliance, and people leadership. The role is central to ensuring the practice delivers measurable value to clients, provides opportunities for staff, and maintains full compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development
- Actively develop business for the Practice through sales, client retention, and close collaboration with the wider network.
- Build market awareness and strengthen brand recognition in Australia and New Zealand.
- Promote the Practice's credibility and value proposition to prospective and existing clients.
- Conduct joint and independent sales calls with sales and account management teams.
- Collaborate with other Practice leaders to cultivate cross-market opportunities.
- Actively manage and grow the sales pipeline using the company's CRM system.
- Serve as the Principal Consultant for the Practice, overseeing and reviewing all deliverables.
- Provide clients with practical solutions across all areas of Customs & Trade, including Valuation, Classification, Origin, Trade Remedies, FTAs, Concessions, Export Controls, and related matters.
- Hold and maintain a Customs Broker License in Australia, responsible for filing/overseeing PWAs or Refunds as required.
- Monitor utilization and realization rates across the Practice and individual consultants.
- Develop and tailor product offerings to meet market needs and client demand.
- Ensure full compliance with laws, regulations, internal policies, Codes of Conduct, and client requirements.
- Maintain robust processes and controls through peer reviews, audits, quality assurance, document retention, and Accounts Receivable management.
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain top talent.
- Identify and mentor high-potential staff while ensuring career development pathways.
- Conduct performance monitoring, appraisals, and regular goal reviews with staff.
- Develop a strong organizational structure to support future growth.
- University degree in Law, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Licensed Customs Broker (Australia).
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including proven leadership.
- Strong consulting experience with a strategic mindset.
- Strong business acumen and deep knowledge of trade and customs regulations.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including strong negotiation capability.
- Demonstrated success in driving business development, process improvement, and organizational change.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI and SharePoint preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
