I am working closely with an established Yacht Management Company to appoint a Safety & Compliance Officer to work out of their Isle of Man (IOM)  office.

** This is not a remote role - you must live on the IOM, this is not a hybrid role it is office based when you are not travelling to a vessel ***

My client prides themselves on providing specialist services to businesses and UHNWI's in niche areas such as superyacht management, Cyber Security, Managed IT and Corporate Services. Possessing a successful track record with over 18 years' experience.

The company is experiencing a significant growth phase and as a result, they have an opportunity for a Safety & Compliance Officer to join their team.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day support to the Safety Compliance Department including:
  • Monitoring of crew and vessel certification, regulatory compliance and communications.
  • Actively involved in the development and maintenance of the award-winning electronic Safety Management System.
  • Emergency Response Team member
Skills & Knowledge
  • Maintain up to date list of current crew serving on Clients' yachts and ensuring that they are correctly certified.
  • Assist Crewing and Recruitment Departments with any crew related queries.
  • Maintain up to date list of statutory certificates of Clients' yachts and ensure that they remain valid.
  • Assist with the onboard safety and security management of clients receiving the company services.
  • Review yachts' safety and security reports and returns, collate, draft and send feedback as required by the Safety & Compliance Manager.
  • Draft and dispatch or forward any International, Flag, Class, Port State or Company generated safety related messages to the Fleet.
  • Highly motivated to provide clients and crew with exceptional levels of service.
  • An excellent communicator at all levels with strong relationship building skills.
  • A high degree of attention to detail, capable of checking/ recording information accurately.
  • Possessing an above average level of practical knowledge of the international and national maritime regulations.
  • Previous experience at sea in the Engineering or Deck Departments.
  • Possessing an above average level of practical knowledge of the international and national maritime regulations ( STCW, SOLAS, Maritime Labour Conventions) and a sound understanding of seafarers' certification process.
  • Self-motivated, able to solve problems and manage their own time
  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality
  • A high degree of written and spoken English
  • Organised, ability to prioritise, flexible, attentive to details
  • Proficient in Word and Excel, and “tech-savvy”
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative where necessary

Reporting to the Safety & Compliance Manager, this is an office-based role Monday - Friday.
