Job Description

This role combines registry management, client engagement, and business development, ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations while actively promoting the Virgin Islands Ship Registry to global shipowners and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Registry Management
  • Administer ship registration functions to ensure efficient and effective registry operations.
  • Coordinate registration processes across multiple parties and time zones, ensuring compliance with BVI and client requirements.
2. Stakeholder Engagement & Client Relationship Management
  • Liaise with shipowners, clients, and maritime agents to ensure seamless registration services.
  • Represent VISMA at global maritime conferences, exhibitions, and industry networking events.
  • Promote the Virgin Islands Registry as a competitive and reputable option for shipowners.
3. Departmental Management
  • Lead and manage the Registry Department, supervising staff and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Drive staff development through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Implement workforce strategies aligned with departmental objectives and oversee performance management.
4. Vessel Data & System Management
  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate vessel registration databases and files.
  • Ensure all records comply with registration standards and are up to date.
5. Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with international maritime regulations, sanctions, and KYC requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Legal and Compliance Department to monitor regulatory adherence.
6. Industry Monitoring & Adaptation
  • Keep abreast of global developments in ship registration and maritime regulations.
  • Adjust registration policies and services to meet emerging market demands.
7. Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare detailed reports, statistics, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide procedural guidance to the Managing Director to support informed decision-making.
8. Other Duties
  • Undertake other duties as assigned to contribute to departmental and organizational effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications in Business Administration, Commerce, Compliance, Shipping, or Maritime are advantageous.
  • 5-7 years' experience in ship registry, maritime marketing, or commercial shipping.
  • Proven success in business development or international client acquisition.
  • Strong knowledge of global ship registration processes and maritime regulations.
