This is a high-impact role combining technical expertise, regulatory oversight, and global engagement. You'll shape safety standards, support vessel design certification, and conduct inspections and surveys worldwide.
The Role
- Lead statutory surveys, audits, and inspections on passenger ships and superyachts.
- Oversee plan approvals, certification, and compliance during design, construction, and operation.
- Apply and enforce IMO, ILO, and international maritime regulations.
- Provide expert advice to shipowners, shipyards, surveyors, and classification societies.
- Prepare technical reports, certificates, and regulatory assessments.
- Represent the registry in client and industry engagements.
- Support business development and build strong international relationships.
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field.
- Extensive experience with a Classification Society or Maritime Administration.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with professional body membership.
- Experience at sea / Flag State or regulatory roles.
- Deep understanding of passenger ship and superyacht design, construction, and operations.
- Knowledge of: IMO conventions and codes, Classification Society rules and survey processes, Port State Control and Flag State responsibilities and International maritime regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
