We are looking for an experienced Marine Superintendent to join our technical team and ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our fleet. This is a key role responsible for upholding navigational safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across all vessels.
Role Overview
The Marine Superintendent will oversee vessel readiness, safety systems, crew performance, and compliance with international maritime standards. You will act as a technical authority, liaising with internal departments, external inspectors, and regulatory bodies to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure vessels comply with ISM Code, ISO standards, and flag state requirements.
- Review and manage marine safety budgets and operational plans.
- Monitor navigational safety, bridge procedures, and chart corrections.
- Oversee mooring, towing, cargo gear, and lifting equipment condition.
- Conduct interviews and evaluations of Masters and Senior Deck Officers.
- Coordinate SOPEP/VRP drills and crew assessments.
- Prepare vessels for third-party inspections and follow up on deficiencies.
- Liaise with class societies, flag states, and regulatory bodies.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Conduct internal audits and participate in safety committee meetings.
- Plan and manage periodic inspections and vetting processes.
- Track industry developments and ensure fleet-wide compliance.
- Support continuous improvement of the company’s quality and safety systems.
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency.
- ISM/ISO Auditor certification.
- Sea service as Master on Gas Carriers.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in vessel operational management.
- Prior experience as a Superintendent in a ship management company.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficient in computer systems and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Commercial awareness and adaptability to change.
- Proven ability to lead safety and compliance initiatives.
