Our client, a dynamic and growing maritime company based in California, is seeking a talented superstar to work as a Marine Compliance Manager / Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to join their team, working out of Los Angeles.

Responsibilities:.
  1. Safety and Quality Standards:
    • Ensure vessels and crew meet safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
    • Foster an interdependent safety culture among employees.
    • Implement and monitor environmental policies to prevent pollution and ensure sustainable vessel operations.
  2. Operational Management:
    • Manage marine operations to maintain customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
    • Provide support to port management teams and crew for efficient towage operations.
    • Coordinate training and development, ensuring compliance with certification and training requirements.
  3. Business Acumen and Stakeholder Relations:
    • Support the leadership team in managing P&L for the fleet.
    • Build strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders (customers, agencies, port authorities).
    • Collaborate with crew and operations to ensure readiness of the vessels.
  4. Technical Readiness:
    • Ensure vessels are fully certified according to maritime legislative requirements and classification society regulations.
    • Oversee refit and fleet time maintenance programs.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in marine compliance management at sea or in a shore based role.
  • Sailing experience on commercial vessels. 
  • Ambitious and eager to advance your career into a senior management and a leadership role in the future.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulations, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, ISPS Code, MTSA, OPA ’90 and other associated regulatory compliance requirements
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Strong spreadsheet and reporting skills.
  • Ability to travel to Northern California for vessel audits. 
  • Flexible work hours, with time off in lieu offered.
