Fastsream are once again delighted to be exclusively representing a globally renowned ship repair yard in the Bahamas in the search for a Marine Buyer.
Reporting to the VP of Commercial, the Marine Buyer will perform and assist in a variety of administrative support duties in the management of the Purchasing Department.
Main duties include;
▪ Research best pricing for international & local purchases
▪ Confer with vendors regarding specs, pricing, availability and delivery
▪ Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to negotiate best value on products and services, creating purchase orders for the same
▪ Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts
▪ Take corrective action on issues regarding defective or unacceptable goods and services
▪ Maintain necessary inventory levels to meet client requirements
▪ Ensure timely receipt of materials and services
▪ Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
▪ Work hours as required to ensure deadlines are adequately managed; may require extended duties at times as agreed with the Manager
▪ Data input (ACCPAC system)
▪ Promote the company in a positive and ethical manner
▪ Adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures
The ideal candidate will hold an equivalent business administration degree and have a wealth of experience in a similar role as a Marine Buyer. Purchasing experience in the following commodities: Electrical, Mechanical, Steel and Profiles, Pipe and Fittings, Personal Protective Equipment, Pumps, Safety Equipment, Plant, Subcontracting, Rental of Tugs and Marine Vessels
