Faststream is working with a leading inland waterway transportation company operating in Germany, dedicated to providing efficient and sustainable shipping solutions. Their commitment to safety, quality, and environmental responsibility is paramount in all operations. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) Superintendent to join their team and ensure the highest standards of HSEQ compliance across the inland waterway barge operations.

Role Overview:
As the HSEQ Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality management for our inland waterway barge operations. You will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and continuously improving HSEQ policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Additionally, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support to operational teams to promote a strong safety culture and achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSEQ management systems, policies, and procedures tailored to the specific requirements of inland waterway barge operations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate control measures to mitigate risks effectively.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSEQ regulations, standards, and guidelines set forth by regulatory authorities and industry organizations.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and non-conformances, and develop corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide HSEQ training, coaching, and support to operational staff to enhance their awareness and understanding of safety, quality, and environmental responsibilities.
- Monitor and analyse HSEQ performance metrics, identify trends, and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders on HSEQ matters, and represent the company in HSEQ-related meetings and discussions.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in HSEQ management within the maritime or transportation industry, preferably with inland waterway barge operations.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant HSEQ regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Fluent in German and English, both written and verbal.
