Job Objective
The Global Head of Medical Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the organisation’s global healthcare services, including oversight of shore-side medical clinics, telemedicine operations, and shipboard medical teams.
The role ensures the delivery of high-quality medical services to clients and first-class medical care to seafarers and passengers, while supporting the continued growth and reputation of the organisation.
The successful candidate will ensure consistent governance, regulatory compliance, clinical quality standards, and financial performance across all medical operations in alignment with the organisation’s global strategy.
This position offers location flexibility and may be performed remotely or from one of the organisation’s global office locations, depending on the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Quality
- Drive initiatives to ensure clinical quality and patient safety across medical clinics, telemedicine advisors, and shipboard medical teams
- Monitor and evaluate performance of medical staff and ensure adherence to clinical protocols
- Oversee medical governance, audits, and corrective action processes to support continuous improvement
- Ensure all medical facilities (shore-side and onboard) are properly equipped and staffed
- Develop and enhance internal processes and procedures for seafarer and passenger healthcare services
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, maritime health standards, and company SOPs
- Promote service excellence and strengthen the organisation’s reputation within the maritime healthcare sector
- Oversee global medical inventory management including forecasting, procurement, storage, replenishment, and distribution
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with suppliers to ensure quality standards and cost efficiencies
- Develop and manage annual operational budgets for medical services across clinics and vessels
- Monitor financial performance and optimise operational cost structures
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary global medical teams
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence
- Identify opportunities for service innovation and strategic partnerships
- Academic degree required; Medical Degree (MD) preferred
- Proven leadership experience within healthcare operations
- Experience in clinical services, telemedicine, or maritime healthcare environments highly desirable
- Strong understanding of healthcare governance, regulatory compliance, and quality standards
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and organisational development
