As our client continue to expand their operations, on their behalf we are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as Fleet Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement & Drive Growth Strategy:
- Develop and implement long-term and short-term growth strategies for Bulk Carriers and Containers business lines.
- Align growth strategy with overall business strategy, industry trends, and customer needs.
- Set financial targets and track success through performance metrics.
- Set Vessel Performance Standards:
- Establish and maintain vessel performance standards based on industry best practices and customer requirements.
- Drive implementation through Group Managers and address non-compliance as necessary.
- Upgrade Technological and Human Competencies:
- Foster competitive advantage through superior technological and human competencies.
- Identify areas of improvement through industry analysis and collaboration with HR and Chief Technology Officer.
- Develop and implement an improvement roadmap through Group Managers.
- Maintain Safety and Reliability Standards:
- Ensure high levels of safety and reliability onboard vessels.
- Oversee technical inspections and audits, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Promote a safety-oriented culture onboard vessels.
- Drive Continuous Improvement:
- Implement and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement improvements in policies, processes, and technology.
- Manage Day-to-Day Operations:
- Ensure adherence to operating standards and promote best practices.
- Provide support and advice in crisis/incident management.
- Manage and Review Costs:
- Oversee repair and maintenance costs and budget projections.
- Assist in anomaly identification and resolution in budget reports.
- Develop Human Capital:
- Mentor, coach, and develop direct reports.
- Address competency gaps through performance review and collaboration with HR.
- Review and provide input on workforce plans.
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Marine Engineering/Navigation or equivalent.
- MEO Class 1 Certificate of competency or equivalent.
- Minimum 10-12 years' shore-based experience with at least 3-5 years in a Mid-Senior Management position.
- Experience driving business expansion and revenue growth globally.
- Strong understanding of maritime business strategy.
- In-depth understanding of operational and safety processes in ship management.
- IT literacy and proficiency in business administration.
- Leading teams with industry and business acumen.
- Setting direction, planning, and empowering teams.
