Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead and develop a dedicated team responsible for fuel performance and itinerary management. Work closely with shipboard management teams (Deck, Engine, Hotel) and collaborate with shoreside deployment, technical, environmental, corporate fuel, and procurement teams to ensure seamless operations and shared goals. - Fuel Budget & Energy Efficiency:
Take full ownership of the daily fleet fuel budget, identifying and implementing operational energy efficiency and cost-saving initiatives. Develop and track effective KPIs for fuel performance, Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII), and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets13. - Itinerary & Deployment Management:
Ensure all ship itineraries are navigationally safe, environmentally compliant, and energy-efficient throughout the deployment development stage. Implement workflows that support safe, efficient voyages and meet or exceed corporate and regulatory CII and GHG standards3. - Operational Support:
Oversee the preparation of accurate fuel forecasts for the entire fleet, support marine fleet operations, and manage acute itinerary and operational needs as they arise. Lead or support marine operational projects as directed by senior management. - Data & Reporting:
Collaborate with corporate fuel and data teams to drive best-in-class fuel consumption analysis. Regularly prepare and present detailed performance reports and recommendations to senior management. - Compliance & Innovation:
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological innovations in marine energy efficiency. Attend relevant workshops, trade shows, and corporate work groups, bringing forward new ideas and priorities for continuous improvement. - Emergency Response:
Serve as Maritime Emergency Response leader in cases of major incidents, ensuring swift and effective action.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a senior deck officer (cruise industry Captain/Staff Captain preferred) and 5 years in a relevant shoreside operational management role in the maritime or cruise sector.
- Strong knowledge of shipboard nautical and technical operations, marine fuels, fuel procurement, bunkering, and energy efficiency practices.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively across disciplines and cultures.
- Relevant degree or certification in Nautical Sciences, Marine Engineering, Energy Management, or Naval Architecture preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and strong analytical/reporting skills.
- Ability to travel to ships as needed and represent the company at industry organizations and regulatory bodies.
