My Client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Expedition Manager to join the team. As the Expedition Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless staffing, training, and management of our Discovery team for both "Hybrid" and "Discovery" modes, delivering exceptional customer service onboard and during Discovery Excursions. This position requires a strong background in guest service, hospitality, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in outdoor programming and expedition cruising.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Expedition Director on strategies and implementations.
  • Develop staffing plans for operational regions and itineraries.
  • Conduct staffing interviews for new guides.
  • Communicate effectively with all guides, providing updates and pertinent information.
  • Manage staff and Discovery equipment inventories.
  • Work with Marketing and Product teams to provide suitable guides for print and Social Media content.
  • Oversee the implementation of Discovery SOPs.
  • Conduct online information and training webinars for all staff.
  • Collaborate with the Expedition Director on the selection of Discovery Leaders and specialized staff.
  • Manage the onboard Discovery Academy.
  • Oversee the staffing review and feedback program.
While Operating 'Cruise' Itineraries:
  • Manage Water Sports staffing for ocean vessels.
  • Hire Water Sports personnel for vessels.
  • Oversee the implementation of Water Sports SOPs for ocean vessels.
While Operating 'Hybrid' Itineraries:
  • Assist the Expedition Director with the development of Discovery Day locations.
  • Oversee the Discovery team and equipment transition into Hybrid mode operations.
While Operating in 'Discovery' Itineraries:
  • Oversee the Discovery team and equipment transition into Discovery Mode operations.

Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong Guest Service & Hospitality background
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in outdoor programming and management
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Expedition Cruising in polar and warm water environments
  • Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Developed organization and planning skills
  • Respect for privacy and well-groomed appearance
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of performance
  • Knowledge of MLC and SOLAS regulations
