Environmental and Energy Coordinator

Contract Type: Initial 6+ month contract with potential for permanent hire

Industry: Maritime / Shipping / Environmental Compliance

Are you technically curious, analytically minded, and passionate about driving environmental performance in the maritime sector?

Our client, a respected name in the maritime industry, is seeking an intelligent and inquisitive individual to join their team as an Environmental and Energy Coordinator. This role offers the opportunity to sit at the intersection of technical insight and operational action, helping shape the environmental and energy efficiency strategy of a global shipping fleet.

In this role, you’ll become the go-to expert for a cutting-edge fleet performance tool, acting as a critical link between onboard teams, technical staff, and regulatory bodies. You will work with data, people, and systems to ensure environmental compliance, optimize vessel performance, and support long-term decarbonization goals.

This is a dynamic and high-impact position suited to a professional with a background in marine engineering or environmental performance in shipping, who enjoys solving problems, interpreting data, and influencing operational change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily use and accuracy of the fleet performance tool across the company’s operations
  • Deliver support and training to onboard crews and shore-based personnel
  • Validate and analyze environmental and performance data, troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure data integrity
  • Generate actionable insights and regular reports to drive efficiency and support emissions compliance
  • Assist in emissions tracking, audit preparation, and regulatory reporting
  • Contribute to fleet-wide energy efficiency strategies and decarbonization initiatives
  • Maintain and evolve environmental operational plans in collaboration with relevant teams
  • Keep abreast of evolving regulations and best practices in maritime environmental compliance
  • Conduct crew training on tool usage and environmental awareness initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience in marine engineering, either as a qualified Marine Engineer or via technical roles with an environmental focus.
  • Familiarity with vessel performance or optimization tools (desirable)
  • Awareness of current and emerging emissions and environmental regulations
  • Strong technical aptitude and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organization making tangible strides in energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. The initial contract is for 6 months, with strong potential to convert to a permanent role in 2026.

Due to location, you will need to be a US Citizen or US Green Card Holder to be eligible as sponsorship isn't available.

If you're looking to apply your technical skills to make a real difference in maritime sustainability, we’d love to hear from you.
