They are pioneering tidal energy solutions that can compete on cost with traditional renewables. Their tidal platform and turbines have been proven in operational deployments and are now being prepared for multi-megawatt scale rollouts. With a UK pipeline of 460MW and international expansion on the horizon, we are building the infrastructure and supply chain to deliver the next generation of clean marine power.
The Role:
They're seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in offshore renewables (tidal, wave, or wind preferred) to lead and support electrical system design, integration, and commissioning. While the focus is technical delivery, experience in procurement of key electrical infrastructure — such as export cables, junction boxes, monitoring systems, and cable management solutions — is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities-
- Support the electrical design, integration, and commissioning of tidal energy systems, including turbines, subsea platforms, and associated onshore/offshore infrastructure.
- Prepare electrical specifications, single-line diagrams, and system layouts for HV, MV, and LV systems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration between electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Provide input on the selection and procurement of electrical infrastructure (export cables, junction boxes, cable management systems, monitoring equipment).
- Manage interfaces between platform SCADA systems, grid connections, and environmental monitoring systems.
- Conduct cable sizing, cable routing, and protection coordination studies.
- Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities for electrical equipment.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal project teams on technical and commercial matters.
- Ensure all electrical designs and installations meet relevant standards, regulations, and best practices for offshore renewables.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
- 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in offshore renewables, marine energy, or subsea power systems.
- Strong understanding of HV, MV, and LV systems in marine/offshore environments.
- Experience with cable design, termination, and subsea connection systems.
- Proficiency in electrical design tools and MS Project (or equivalent scheduling software).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Supply chain engagement and procurement experience for offshore electrical infrastructure.
- Experience with marine installation methodologies and "plug-and-play" offshore electrical systems.
- Knowledge of SCADA and electrical monitoring systems.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration.
