Faststream are working with a busy independent drydock and ship repair business with facilities around the Scottish coast.

Our client is looking for a Dock Master, ideally with experience of dry docking projects within an engineering and fabrication facility.
The successful candidate will be reporting into the Operations Manager and be responsible for all aspects of dry dock usage and operations. Duties will include:

• Study of vessel docking plans and setting out of dock blocks in preparation of vessel docking.
 
• Meeting with vessel master and crew to ensure they know the requirements for their vessel docking.
 
• Control and direct the squad assigned to docking any vessel so that the work is carried out correctly and safely.
 
• Ensure that all vessels are correctly secured and shored in a professional and safe manner.
 
• Ensure that the structure of the dock, its associated pumping systems, and the vessel support blocks are maintained.
 
• Perform Gas Free testing and certification of tanks and enclosed spaces.
 

Candidates should have both written and spoken English and have the right to work in the UK. The client is offering a competitive salary based on a 39 hour working week plus overtime. Candidates should be flexible to work as required with overtime rates available for extended hours. Occasional travel between the companies other sites in Scotland may be required and therefore a UK driving licence is also essential. This role may suit either experienced trades or engineering candidates from a yards background or alternatively candidates from sea going background with exposure to dry docking work.
